Students learn what it takes to prepare for a career in healthcare and begin building the foundation for success in multiple areas including:
= Study skills and test-taking strategies
= Interpersonal and communication skills
= Networking and leadership opportunities
= Academic enrichment (daily instruction)
Additionally, students will learn about various health topics from physicians and other healthcare professionals from our program partners: Children’s Mercy Hospital, Truman Medical Centers, and the Kansas City Missouri Public Health Department.
Our program is open to high school students (rising juniors and seniors) and current undergraduate students. In order to be eligible to participate, students will need to be from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background. Preference is given to students who are from traditionally underrepresented communities and who live in the Kansas City metro area.
Our application deadline is April 1st. For more information, program dates and to apply, click on the following link: STAHR Summer Scholars Apply Page
Participants that complete the program and all requirements will receive a scholarship.
